REPOLISH - REPAIR - RECUTS
Do you have a heirloom stone that needs some TLC? perhaps you were unaware this is possible, I can restore it back to its former glory, give it life again.
I can repair, restore and re-polish old worn, chipped and scratched stones mostly done for the trade.
I can re-cut stones to a different shape, modernise or fit to a setting. These can make great pre-forms, a re-cutting of a badly commercial or native cut can improve its brilliance and colour thus will add value.
The better the quality of the cut and polish the better the colour.
CUSTOM CUTS
I also provide a custom gem design service, if you have invested in high quality faceting rough it deserves the best cutting and polish so think of using my services. I would need to know the type of stone, colour, design, shape, size, weight, budget and images with a ruler next to the piece, ultimately I would need to see it in the flesh to proper assess and see what would suit, it could have flaws and inclusions to work around and perhaps so many its not suitable to cut.
Have you been given or collected a keepsake from a loved one or a place you've visited? it could be a piece of sea glass or pebble you found on honeymoon, maybe you never thought it could be transformed into a piece of jewellery for the beholder. These are just a few ideas for personalising a commissioned piece.
PRICES
No two jobs are the same when it comes to a re-cut, repolish or repair, its not as straight forward as you would think especially when a repolish is concerned as angles and indexes take time to work out, so ask yourself is it worth it? But I can give you a rough estimation of what a job will cost upon inspection of your stone, different cutters have their own way of costing and rates, all I can say is you get what you pay for, so if your shopping around for prices then check the quality of their work to know what to expect. If the job ends up less, then I will say so.
Note that recutting/repair will inevitably result in a smaller stone carat weight depending on its original depth e.g., a shallower stone will need to lose width and length to accommodate a deeper pavilion needed for correct angles or better colour. Be absolutely sure before you want to go ahead as there's no going back but know this you will have a far more superior precision gem.
